How Strangeer collects, uses, stores, and protects your data — and how you stay in control of it. Last updated May 30, 2026.

1. Data We Collect

Strangeer collects only the data needed to operate its moderation and security features. Specifically:

  • User IDs — the unique Discord identifier of users who interact with the bot or who are acted on by a moderation/security feature.
  • Server (Guild) IDs — to store per-server configuration and apply settings to the correct community.
  • Role & channel IDs — referenced inside server configuration (e.g. whitelists, log channels, auto-role targets).
  • Server configurations — your enabled features, punishment settings, action limits, whitelists, and automod/automatic preferences.
  • Limited message metadata — when an automod or anti-raid feature is enabled, the bot evaluates message content in real time to detect violations. Message content is processed transiently and is not permanently stored unless a feature explicitly logs it (e.g. an audit/log channel you configure).

We do not collect data unrelated to the bot's functionality, and we never collect payment information, passwords, or private personal details.

2. Why We Collect It

Each type of data exists to make a specific feature work and to improve your experience:

  • User & server IDs let the bot apply the right configuration to the right community and remember whom a setting applies to across restarts.
  • Server configurations are what the dashboard reads and writes so your slash commands, prefix commands, and the web dashboard all stay in sync.
  • Role/channel IDs allow features like whitelist, log routing, and auto-role to act on the exact roles and channels you chose.
  • Message evaluation powers automod and anti-raid protection — detecting spam, raids, and abuse the moment it happens so the bot can act automatically.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the bot.

3. Data Storage & Retention

Configuration data is stored for as long as the bot is in your server so your settings persist between sessions. There is no fixed expiry — but you are always in control:

  • Removing the bot from a server stops new data collection for that server.
  • You can request deletion of your stored data at any time (see Data Removal below).
  • Transient message data used for live filtering is not retained after evaluation.

4. How to Request Data Removal

You can request removal of your user or server data at any time:

  • Join our support server and open a request, or use the in-app Bug/Contact option.
  • Tell us the user ID or server ID you want erased (a server owner/admin can request server-wide removal).
  • We verify ownership/management of the server or identity of the user, then permanently delete the associated documents from our database.

We aim to action verified removal requests within 7 days. Once deleted, configuration cannot be recovered.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the data we store:

  • Database access is restricted to the bot's backend services and authenticated dashboard requests only.
  • The web dashboard authenticates every user through Discord OAuth2, and session cookies are signed (HMAC) and httpOnly so they cannot be forged or read by client-side scripts.
  • Secrets (bot token, database credentials, OAuth client secret) live only on the backend and are never exposed to the browser.
  • Connections to Discord and our database use encrypted transport (HTTPS / TLS).

No system is perfectly secure, but we work to follow sensible, current security practices.

6. Third-Party Sharing

Strangeer does not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party. The only external service we interact with is Discord itself — which is required for the bot to function (sending messages, reading events, and managing your server through Discord's API).

We do not integrate advertising networks, analytics brokers, or data resellers.

8. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy as features change or to meet new requirements. When we do:

  • The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change.
  • Significant changes will be announced in our support server.
  • Continued use of the bot after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
